While a never-ending internal discussion about Ernst Jünger's so called metaphysical writing of the 1920s is still keeping the German literary community occupied, Jünger's In Stahlgewittern (and its several translations) has reached the international status of classic war-book, all periods, all categories, all languages. Thus the international significance of the book has reached far beyond Germany and the German internal discussion, although it seems the German audience at large is apparently still more or less ignorant about this fact.
