The cover photo of Das Begleitbuch zu Ernst Jünger 'In Stahlgewittern' is a reproduction from a photograph published originally in Der Weltkrieg in seiner rauhen Wirklichkeit, a war-photo book in 3 volumes with 500 censored photographs by the German war photographer Hermann Rex and his friends among his colleagues at the propaganda organisation Bild- und Filmamt (BUFA). The book was published in 1926 and became soon a classic among anti-war books, together with for example the internationally well-known Krieg dem Kriege: Guerre à la Guerre! War against War! Oorlog aan den Oorlog!, by Ernst Friedrich, from 1924.
