Ernst Jünger was awarded several literature prizes, for example Germany’s highest literary awards, the Goethe Prize and the Schiller Memorial Prize.

The nominations for the Nobel Prize in Literature are secret for 50 years. However, the Nobel Library of the Swedish Academy (intended to assist the Academy in the evaluations required for the Nobel Prize in Literature and for the Academy’s own prizes and awards) acquired more than 40 of Jünger books over the years, many more than any other Swedish library...
Furthermore: One of the members of the Swedish Academy, Bertil Malmberg (1889-1958), was the translator of Auf den Marmorklippen to Swedish (På marmorklipporna, 1950), and one of the founders of the publishing company (or “critical library”) Kykeon, which published Über die Linie in Swedish (Linjen, 1993), is the permanent secretary of the Swedish Academy Horace Engdahl, (elected 1997). There are by the way a few rather well-known writers who were not awarded the Nobel Prize: Tolstoy, Zola, Woolf, Brecht, Conrad, Joyce, Borges, Ibsen, Chekhov, Greene, to mention a few...

Die Nobel-Bibliothek der Schwedischen Akademie (die den Auftrag hat, die Akademie bei den Beurteilungen zu unterstützen, die für den Literaturnobelpreis sowie die Preise und Auszeichnungen der Akademie selbst erforderlich sind) hat jedoch über die Jahre mehr als 40 Bücher Jüngers angeschafft, mehr als in jeder anderen schwedischen Bibliothek...
